Taking over the Web

Posted on September 09, 2008 by Ross

They say 'Silence is Golden'. If that were true we'd all be on holiday in the Bahamas sipping daquiris right now. Instead we're working extremely hard on a whole new round of projects, so I thought I'd take a few minutes to let you guys know exactly what the score is.

So, if we've been so busy, how come the portfolio is as bare as Mother Hubbard's food storage area? Well, we've been travelling up and down to London working with the CMA to deliver them a new web experience that will blow their current solution out of the water. This is a mammoth task, involving a re-design* of their existing site and re-working the information architecture and navigational elements to create a more holistic experience for their membership. As well completely reworking the site, we are working closely with the staff at CMA, developing a brand new CRM system and as if that wasn't enough, we're also adding social tools and applications to develop communication within the community. LinkedIn, eat your heart out! Watch this space, we have decided to roll the site out in two stages so expect to see some screens from the new site around the 24th September. The site should go live in mid-October.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, Design Militia has been working with a bunch of great guys from Evolve itv, an online marketing and design agency. Evolve itv worked up a design for Transpera (a company that delivers mobile and online streaming media content for B2B), which the Design Militia team has implemented using our proprietary content management system, dm:cms. This is just the first of many projects that Evolve itv and Design Militia are working on together, with dm:cms set to roll out across the USA in the future in partnership with Evolve itv, so watch this space and keep your eye on our blog for more information.

While Design Militia will continue to work on a few small end sites, we're currently making the transfer to working with corporate businesses and large scale projects so you'll be seeing a lot more of that from us in the coming months. We're also internally working on a few new sister products to work alongside dm:cms, including dm:xtra, our Intranet and customer relations system and dm:social, a suite of social communication tools and plugins to make online networking as easy as pie. There'll be more on these products as they come closer to completion.

That's all we have time for right now kids - but I'm pleased to say you can expect weekly updates from the busy world of Design Militia from now on as we begin our bid for WWW Domination! Catch you later.

*Tim believes 're-design' is a dirty word. As he said the other day, "putting a new coat of paint on the car won't fix the car itself, yes it will look new but it will still drive the same!"
